Shoreline Bracelet-Polymer Clay Tutor Lesson

Hi all!  Well, I am pretty new to working with polymer clay.  I have goofed around here and there, but never done any real work with it.  Then I started watching some YouTube vids and I started to fall in love.  Just what I need, one more crafting hobby to love…lol!  Anywho, I came across Cindy Leitz, Polymer Clay Tutor.  She has some great free videos.  And she has a website where you can purchase a membership for tutorials.  Her membership is super reasonable.  So, I decided to give it a go.  Her blog is : http://www.beadsandbeading.com/blog/.    Her website for membership is http://www.beadvideos.com/.

The tutorial for the month of May was all about the Shoreline blend.  This was my second blend and I love the way it came out.  Cindy also teaches you how to do the findings.  I have to work on my wire work, so I decided to use ready made findings.  I put the little pearl and crystal charm together myself. 
I think I will really enjoy working with polymer clay and all that goes with it!  TFL!

It’s Your Day-Fold Up Flower Card

  

  

I made this fun box card with my Silhouette Cameo.  The paper is called Today Tomorrow Forever by Recollections.  The cut files are by Lori Whitlock and I got them at the Silhouette online store.  She has a whole fun line of them in the store.   The card is a box that folds completely flat for mailing or gift giving.  I am a total fan!  TFL!

Circle Chalkboard Plaque

 

     I have been in the frame of mind lately of wanting to alter things.  So, for this little project, I decided to alter a piece of wood I got at Michaels.  The back of the wood measures about 6 3/4” and it tapers off to about 5” at the front of the wood.  

     I sanded and painted the whole piece pink.    I cut a piece of Recollections Chalkboard paper and glued it on the front.  I used the Scotch brand liquid adhesive.  I wanted it to stick and stay.  I find it is one of the better brands to use with paper.  I used a piece of Spring garland around the edges.  I hot glued it down in a few different places so it would still have some movement. 

    The flowers are all from the Los Angeles Fashion District.  I took a trip down there recently and had such a good time!  There are so many crafting goodies!….Not to mention all the other great stuff!  The large flowers were originally much more white.  I added a bit of the pink paint that I used on the plaque so they would match better.  The medium white flowers are part porcelain and part rolled ribbon.  They are sooooooo dreamy!  Then I popped a few small white mulberry roses in to fill out the flower layout.

     I still needed a way to hang it.  I found some ribbon that I like.  It’s kinda shabby chic.  I hot glued the ribbon to the back.  Then I cut a piece of really thick black cardstock and glued that to the back and on top of the ribbon.  Now it is all set to go and write small messages on .  TFL!

Steampunk Altered domino

 

 

                   

     I recently came across altered dominoes.  I then realized it is not a new thing, but it is new to me and I just love it.  Such a fun way to do some “mini” art.  Anywho, this is one of my beginner attempts.  I looked up some YouTube videos to see what some good ways to do things were and away I went.                                      

     I started digging through my kids toy box for some dominoes and hit the jackpot.  I had a few missed attempts before I was able to get it right.  But, I really like how this came out.  I used Graphic45 Steapmpunk Debutante paper for the lady on the front.  I created the paper on the back using a technique I learned from Fi on YouTube (technique here: )

   I knew I wanted to use mostly what I had on hand and not buy too much to make the domino.  First I glued the paper on the front and then used Glossy Accents on it and let it dry overnight.  It needed a second coat, so I did it again.  Next, I created the chain and charm part of the domino.  I used head pins and wire and hat pins and chain and beads and just attached it all to one bigger wire that I glued to the back of the domino with glossy accents.   I found a piece of ribbon I liked and glued it to the back.  I let it dry and then I attached the back paper. 

     I used a mix of Citrus and Stream colored alcohol inks on the sides of the domino so it would blend with the colors of the paper I picked.  I wanted to dress up the sides a bit so I used some faux rhinestone.   For the finishing touches I used a bit of blue bling on the side and the top.  I also use a gear and some blue half pearl. 

     This was such a fun and artistic endeavor!  TFL!

Thanks Typewriter Box from SVGCuts

Hi All!  Here is the nifty little typewriter box from the “Good Day at the Office” svg kit from www.Svgcuts.com.  Here is the direct link to the kit: http://svgcuts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=51&products_id=385.  The paper line is Retro Collage by Recollections from Michaels.  The flowers are Prima.  This was fun and easy to do!  I can’t wait to fill it with some goodies and give it to a friend.  TFL!

Shabby Chic Flowers

     These are a few shabby chic flowers I made using techniques I learned from Fiona over at YouTube.  Her channel is jennings644.  She is fantastic!  The fabric is quilting fabric from Tim Holtz.  It is the Clocks pattern.  The largest flower is made with about 20” x 2” of fabric.  The one on the bottom is about 7”x"2” (folded over length ways, so no open edges were showing).  The last flower is about 5”x2”(and folded like the second flower).  Some people call the smaller ones lollipop flowers.  The lace a beautiful cream lace.  The centers are all clay pieces that I created myself.  I created the two smaller molds using buttons.  The rose is a mold by Mod Podge.  I used white Sculpey clay and then painted them.  I keep a stockpile on hand for when I need them…lol  I added some Glossy Accents around the edge of the rose and dipped it in some white gold micro beads.  On the smaller flowers I just dripped a few micro beads on the centers as the paint dried.  I also made the stickpin.  It is made with pearls and silver bead caps.  Lots of fun!  TFL!

Fun Stair Step Card

     I just found out a friend from Church is having a baby girl.  So, I wanted to make a quick card to congratulate her and her husband.  This is a stair step card I got at the Silhouette store.  The file is by Lori Whitlock.  The cardstock is from Core’dinations.  The patterned paper is from DCWV.  The wood paper is real wood!  I got it on clearance at Michaels a while ago.  It cut in my Cameo like a dream.  The only issue with it was that it would splinter a bit when I was working with it.  I like how it worked out.  Thanks for looking!

This fun little hinged skeleton was made from a SVGcuts collection.  Their files are just fantastic!  He measures out at 22” long finished. 

Steampunk Halloween High Heel

This is my absolute favorite part of the shoe!  I cut a piece of Halloween paper and glued it into a bottle cap that I had flattened in my Sizzix die cut machine.  Then I used some liquid jewelry resin (the resin and the hardener had to be mixed together) and I poured it into the bottle cap.  I let it dry for at least 12 hours before touching it.  The package says it needs to cure for a total of 24 hours.  I punched a hole in it with my Crop-A-Dile after it was dry.  I did not shatter and it was not too soft.  It is hard to see the glassy effect in this photo, but I just love how it came out!

Freestyle Crafts-Jennings644 You Tube

Vintage Style Hello Card

       

I love vintage and shabby chic style things.  And this card is an ode to that style.  The card base was cut with a file from the Silhouette store.  The flower is homemade.  The base and very top of the flower are made from a roll of cream mulberry spring roll paper.  The middle is a crocheted flower from Michaels.  The sentiment is a $1 stamp from Michaels.  The patterned paper is Daisy D’s.  The twine is by Tim Holtz.  TFL!

Tag Time-Peacock Feather Tag

Hi all!  Here is a tag I made to try out my new Twinkling H20’s.  The blues and purples are made with the Twinkling H20’s.  The gold is Golden brand fluid acrylic gold paint. The flower and peacock flower die cuts are cut from my Silhouette Cameo.  I am not the best photographer, so it is hard to see all the sparkle on this tag, but it has lots of it.  TFL!

bee happy

This is one of my favorite projects that I have ever done.  It is a mixed media canvas that I made for my youngest son’s third grade teacher as an end of the year gift.  She is an amazing woman!  All three of my boys have had the blessing of having her as a third grade teacher and they have all grown in their education and maturity.  I am very grateful for her! 

Her classroom theme is “H****’s Honeybee’s”.  I am leaving out her name for privacy.  So, when I came across this cut file in the Silhouette Store I immediately thought of her.  I am very grateful for the education my children have been able to get!

                                                                                                                                        

Card and Lamp for a friend

This card is for a friend that has been such a wonderful example to me.  I wanted to make her a small gift to let her know.  It is from the Silhouette online store.  The designer of the file is Lori Whitlock.  The patterned paper is by K&Co.

Hi Everyone!  This fun card was made with using die cuts almost completely from the Silhouette Cameo.  The bees are from a K & Co. die cut package.  The twine is from Tim Holtz.  And I also used some Inka Gold.  TFL!

Just A Butterfly Card

 

Hi everyone!  Here is a card I made with my Silhouette Cameo.  The finished size is about 6”w x 5.5 “ tall.  All the patterned paper is from the DCWV The Sweet Blossom stack.  The regular cardstock is from my stash.  All the cuts are from the Silhouette of America online store:  http://www.silhouetteonlinestore.com/php/?page=home&version=&software=&designId=&artistId=.  I have a monthly membership.  It is a really great deal and I always find everything and anything I need!  TFL!

Good Day!  I have another Folk Art Festival card made with my Cricut.  The paper for this is another DCWV stack-Coral Couture.  The finished size is 6”wide x 4”tall.  The card front is popped up with pop dots. The little tag/label on the front is cut with my Silhouette.  The sentiment is stamped and the flower is the Reflections brand from Michaels.  TFL!

Butterfly Wreath

I was inspired to make this pink and zebra butterfly wreath from a magazine I saw.  The finished size is about 6 inches around.
I bought a piece of Styrofoam that is about 12”x12”x1/2”.  I cut circles with my Silhouette and drew them on my Styrofoam to use as guides.  Then I cut out the wreath shape with my craft knife.  I picked out a fabric I liked to cover the circle with.  That is the pink zebra print.  I cut it in 1”x 12” strips and then just started wrapping.  I added hot glue here and there to keep the strips of fabric where I wanted them.  You gotta be careful with hot glue and Stryofoam.  They are not best friends…lol.   I added bakers twine to hang it with next.  Then I layered the back fabric with some hot glue.
I tied a pink strip of fabric around the front, middle.  I knew I wanted to add some kind of embellie later.  I die cut different sizes of butterflies on my Silhouette.  I also punched some with my Martha Stewart punches.  I embossed them with various Cuttlebug and Sizzix embossing folders. Then I misted them with Glitter Mist.  I added to the wreath with hot glue.  Lastly, I added a safety pin with some sequins and some charms on it to the piece of pink fabric.  TFL!
